Out of the Desert and Onto the Screen: Facebook and The Hyperreal

Out of the Desert and Onto the Screen: Facebook and The Hyperreal.

These thoughts are in line with my primary motivations for starting this blog; while WordPress is still another form of social media, and an extension of simulacra, this hyper-reality feels less public. In that sense, it is perhaps somewhere along the lines of a reality-next-door, rather than some otherworldly matrix that we’ve all lost ourselves in. Less of a second-stage REM dream, closer to hypnagogic hallucination.

My hopes are that these channels will prove to be less consumptive. Being away from family helps, as in “real” life.
